On Saturday night, we were inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. It was easily one of the biggest highlights of our career. It ranks up there with Artist of the Year at the Doves or winning a Grammy. Wherever we travel we tell people how proud we are to be from Georgia. It's a good feeling to know that Georgia is proud of us, too!
The Georgia Music Hall of Fame people hosted a dinner at the Georgia World Congress Center, and the awards show was broadcast live on local television. We performed and received our award alongside other awesome musicians like Collective Soul, Berry Oakley from The Allman Brothers, and Chuck Leavell from the Rolling Stones. We had a great evening with friends and family from Atlanta, some of our longtime music associates from Nashville, and even some of our fans from around the country. Thanks so much to everyone who made it such a special evening! (I'm going to post some pictures up here when I get the chance...)Yesterday, I posted a link to a site where you can pledge to help out my daughter Abbie with her school fundraiser. Little did I know that I would receive many emails, tweets, and phone calls from confused and caring individuals. To clarify, here are a few things to know about Abbie's fundraiser:
- Abbie will be running laps at her school. You can pledge a certain dollar amount per lap, or you can donate a flat amount. To give you an idea, she did this last year and ran (I think) 27 laps. - The fundraiser people provided us with a web page to enter pledge information. We decided to post a link from Twitter and Facebook to the site. Yes it's technically "Abbie's page", but for now this was the only way we could figure out how to include our social networks in the fundraiser. - When you make a pledge, you put your contact info. This is for our purposes only, but it is a public site, so only put email or phone info that you are comfortable with giving out. But make sure we're able to track you down :) - Yes, my "info" is on there from when I made a pledge. It is my public email address that is on about every website I have maintained for the last 5 years. And it is the phone number to our management in Nashville. Not mine! OK, I think that sums it up! If you feel so led, please help my little girl with her fundraiser!
